A Reader’s Worst Nightmare [4]

I needed content for October, because I’m trying to do #blogtober. My mind is stuck on Halloween, so I thought of doing some of the top (in my opinion) pet peeves i.e. nightmares (here’s the Halloween part) that readers have/deal with. I know there’s more pet peeves than how many I can post weekly in October, so maybe I’ll keep going after the month ends until I run out of ideas. We’ll see. Here’s nightmare number four:

Ripped/dog eared pages, highlighted sections, cracked spines, creased/bent covers, etc. These are just some of the ways people mishandle their books. Not to say all of these are wrong (okay I’m kind of saying it lol), but some of these things can drive a person mad. I personally detest pretty much all of the above, especially dog eared pages. I will NEVER fold down the corners of my book pages. I’m all about using a bookmark of some kind to hold my place. I actively try to not rip pages, but some of the big books are printed on thin paper to cut down on cost that it can be super hard. I like my spines to look new, but sometimes cracking them is unavoidable if it’s a gigantic book. And don’t even get me started on worse offenses like moldy, or food stained, books.

Tune in next week to see my fifth (and possibly last) reader’s worst nightmare. Let me know your thoughts about what constitutes a mishandled book in the comments below.

  1. I’m not fond of dog eared pages but I do dog ear school books. And although I like keeping my books in near perfect condition, I’m not bother by cracked spines, etc. because it shows t9 me that it’s been loved. Oh and I sometimes write in my books so I contribute to this nightmare ??
