A Reader’s Worst Nightmare [3]

I needed content for October, because I’m trying to do #blogtober. My mind is stuck on Halloween, so I thought of doing some of the top (in my opinion) pet peeves i.e. nightmares (here’s the Halloween part) that readers have/deal with. I know there’s more pet peeves than how many I can post weekly in October, so maybe I’ll keep going after the month ends until I run out of ideas. We’ll see. Here’s nightmare number three:

Sometimes there’s nothing more frustrating than getting to the end of a book, and there’s a major cliffhanger…and the next one doesn’t come out for like another year. How the heck are you supposed to survive without knowing what happens for 365+ days?!? Don’t get me wrong, I actually do like cliffhangers sometimes. But if it’s a newly released book, you’re going to be waiting quite a while for a resolution to all your unanswered questions. And if it’s a series, they usually have cliffhangers at the end of each book, so you’re waiting 3+ years to fully figure out what’s going on. That’s why sometimes I like to wait until all the books are published before reading the entire series.

Tune in next week to see my fourth reader’s worst nightmare. Let me know about some of the cliffhanger books you’ve read (without spoilers) in the comments below.
