Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly awaiting.
There are so many books I’m excited about, so I’ll definitely keep doing Waiting on Wednesday. With that said, here’s my pick that I can’t wait for.
Title: The Way I Used to Be
Author: Amber Smith
Publisher: Margaret K. McElderry Books
Publication date: March 22, 2016
Summary (via Goodreads): Eden was always good at being good. Starting high school didn’t change who she was. But the night her brother’s best friend rapes her, Eden’s world capsizes.
What was once simple, is now complex. What Eden once loved—who she once loved—she now hates. What she thought she knew to be true, is now lies. Nothing makes sense anymore, and she knows she’s supposed to tell someone what happened but she can’t. So she buries it instead. And she buries the way she used to be.
Told in four parts—freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior year.
Why I Chose This Book:
This book sounds amazing. I love finding books that focus on hard topics, like rape. It lets teenagers who have gone through these tough situations relate to someone, lets them know it’s okay to be open and let someone know what happened to them. I love the simplistic cover with the flowers practically exploding their petals all over the place. I think it’s a good metaphor for the plot. This novel has gotten great reviews so far, so it makes me want to pick up the published copy even more.
